Expert Historic Home Renovation in Fox Chapel, PA

Historic home renovation in Fox Chapel means working with homes that were built to last, not built to be replaced. Most houses in the borough date from the 1930s through the 1980s, with architectural styles that include Colonial Revival, Tudor, and French Country estates on large wooded lots. These homes carry original details worth keeping: slate roofs, custom millwork, plaster walls, grand entryways, and built-ins that cannot be sourced off a shelf. Pittsburgh Home Renovations approaches each project by identifying which original features stay, which get restored, and where modern systems need to be integrated cleanly. That means full-gut kitchens that match the home's proportions, additions that read as original, and updated electrical, plumbing, and HVAC that do not compromise the character of the space. Fox Chapel Borough has strict zoning guidelines that shape what exterior work is possible, so every scope is planned with that in mind. If you own a historic Fox Chapel estate and want it to work better without losing what makes it worth keeping, call us to talk through your project.

Historic Home Renovation FAQ

Common questions about historic home renovation in Fox Chapel, PA.

Yes, we work on older Fox Chapel estates with slate roofs, plaster walls, and original millwork regularly. Our process starts by assessing which original materials are structurally sound and worth keeping before any work begins.

It depends on the existing layout and what you need from the space. Some Fox Chapel kitchens can be updated within the original footprint, while others require structural changes to open the floor plan to adjacent rooms.

We design additions to match the proportions, materials, and roofline of the existing structure. Fox Chapel Borough zoning also shapes what exterior work is possible, so that is built into the planning process from the start.

A whole home renovation in Fox Chapel typically covers structural reconfiguration, updated electrical and plumbing, kitchen and bath gut-outs, and restoration of original details like built-ins and trim. The scope is set based on your home's specific layout and condition.

Yes, we plan every Fox Chapel project with the borough's zoning and exterior material guidelines in mind. This keeps the scope realistic and avoids changes to the plan once work is underway.

For most Fox Chapel homeowners, renovating is a better path than selling and buying again at this market level. A well-planned renovation lets you keep your address, your lot, and your home's original character while gaining the layout and systems you need.

I would like to thank Stephen and his crew for the amazing work they did remodeling my outdated kitchen (last two pictures). I took my time comparing other contractors prior to the start of the remodel, but Stephen stood out with his professionalism, attention to detail, and fair pricing. He helped us choose the right materials and even provided a 3D model to give us a clear idea of how the final kitchen would look. His contract was very well structured, with everything clearly listed, there were no hidden fees or surprises at the end of the project. His communication was excellent throughout the entire process. They handled everything you see in the photos, removing the bulkhead, adding a dishwasher, new flooring, painting, backsplash tile, garbage disposal, under-cabinet lighting, installing new lights, laying a new water line for the fridge’s water dispenser, and installing all the appliances. What stood out most to me was that Stephen made sure everything was up to his own high standards. If something wasn’t quite there, he made sure it got corrected, which really shows how much he cares about the quality of his work, and I really appreciate that kind of attention to detail. I’m so glad I went with Renewed Homes Construction after taking the time to compare others. If I have more projects in the future, I’ll definitely work with them again. 10/10, highly recommend!

I had a good experience with Renewed Home Construction doing a full kitchen remodel at my house. From initial quote to the end of project, Stephen was quick and responsive to communicate with me. I appreciated having a tight knit group of guys working on my kitchen and not a ton of subcontractors like other remodeling companies use. Overall , the project came out great, turning a previous dark and outdated kitchen into a light, airy, and more space efficient place. I would recommend Stephen and Renewed Home if you’re looking to update your kitchen for an affordable price.

I must give the owners and staff of Renewed Homes the highest possible rating. From the first meeting, I was reassured by the owner that he was interested in what I envisioned, keeping elements of my kitchen and not getting the place gutted and starting over. I say that because other contractors that I'd had come to the house told me that unless I wanted all new cabinets, they weren't interested or they didn't do piecemeal jobs. Renewed Homes assured me it was my kitchen and that they were prepared to take my lead, recommend ideas, and help me make choices but in the end the choices were mine. That's what I appreciated about their website, that all their projects are unique, large or small and my project was not small. New floor, counters, walls, appliances, and may new cabinets. I appreciated the staff, who showed up on time, minimized the disruption, respected my home and completed the project when they said they would. I have nothing but respect and admiration for this company and would highly recommend them.

I loved working with Renewed Homes on my kitchen remodel and highly recommend them. My kitchen is small and required some space optimization, but I didn't have a huge budget to work with. Stephen was extremely responsive and helped me understand my options when I asked (many) questions about the possibilities for the design. The team worked quickly and the work itself is high quality. I'd had a negative experience with a previous contractor so was anxious and probably not the easiest client, but I quickly realized I could trust this company and hope to work with them again in the future. Thank you!!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Stephen Callaway and Renewed Homes Construction, and I can't say enough about the fantastic job they did on my Bathroom and Kitchen renovation. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Stephen and his team were true professionals. They demonstrated remarkable craftsmanship and attention to detail in every aspect of the project. Whether it was the meticulous tile work in the bathroom or the flawless complete renovation of our kitchen, their expertise was evident. Communication was another area where Stephen excelled. He kept my wife and I informed at every step, promptly addressing any questions or concerns we had. His transparency and commitment to meeting deadlines made the entire process stress-free and enjoyable. Stephen even showed up Thanksgiving Day to finish up before our family and friends showed up for Thanksgiving dinner. Stephen and Robbie were always punctual, respectful of our home, and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. Their work ethic and professionalism truly set them apart from other contractors we’ve worked with in the past. In short, I highly recommend Renewed Homes for any renovation or construction project. Their outstanding workmanship, excellent communication, and unwavering commitment to quality was greatly appreciated. I am thrilled with the results and will definitely be using their services again in the future! Thank you Stephen, for turning my wife’s “dream kitchen and bathroom” vision into reality!!
